I always go home during holidays or on my own scheduled vacations. There is something in the place that keeps me coming back.
My family is still there.
My friends are there.
And I am proud of Dulag.
When I was first year in UP, I had to make a term paper about the history of Dulag. It has a rich historical background wayback the Spanish era until the World War II and that was the start of my interest in Research and History. Would anyone care to know and contest the real place where Gen. Mac Arthur landed? I do care because it was the truth. General Douglas Mac Arthur landed first in Dulag on October 19, 1944 and seeing how devastated Dulag was ordered his troops to find another place and proclaim his comeback. It may not be in history books but I have fund sources for it. I may not be able to retract and change the History books but in my heart, I am proud of this fact.
I was in third year when I continue my research for the Technical Writing class with UP, I made the Oral History of Gen. Douglas Mac Arthur in Dulag and interview many veterans about their own accounts of what really happened. I have concluded that Gen. Mac Arthur really landed in Dulag but did the ceremony in Palo, Leyte.
And now I am continuing this research about Dulag, hoping to give you valid sources about History and on the sides will be my simple life being a Dulagnon by heart.
